The dataset in this price book realistically reflects the cost of typical building work carried out on existing buildings, taking common conditions into account. These include, for example, working in occupied premises, access difficulties, extra protection, no economies of scale, extra supervision, extra material costs, short plant hire periods, and increased carriage charges.

The need to establish realistic competition for maintenance services has increased the use of this price book for assessing competitive tenders and as a schedule for letting work on measured term contracts. The price book can be used in conjunction with the JCT Measured Term Contract for letting work on that basis. It is also useful for checking contractors’ estimates, invoices and claims.
